Each summer, CST Conservatory offers high school students a full-scale musical production performed on the Byers Stage at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. This is an audition based only program for students in rising grades 9th-12th.
Show Synopsis: When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 songs, augmented with dynamic new tunes, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

All aspects of our summer high school musical production will be produced by students! Students will work side by side with City Springs Theatre’s production team on all technical elements including carpentry, scenic painting, lighting, sound, wardrobe, and stage management. Students are required to participate in an interview for acceptance into the program. All levels of experience are encouraged! Open to rising 9th – 12th graders. Interviews will begin in Spring 2025.

THE DANCE INTENSIVE
LEVEL: BEGINNER

Grades: Middle and High School
Tuition: $350
Led by professional dancers in the Atlanta area, students will focus on the stylistic and choreographic choices of musical theatre jazz! This week-long intensive will include morning ballet and conditioning classes, across the floor technique, and Broadway jazz choreography to follow! This intensive program is designed for students in middle and high school, and for those who have had 1+ years of experience in technical dance training.

Led by professional dancers in the Atlanta area, students will focus on the stylistic and choreographic choices of musical theatre jazz! This week-long intensive will include morning ballet and conditioning classes, across the floor technique, and Broadway jazz or tap choreography to follow! This intensive program is designed for students in middle and high school, and for those who have had 2+ years of experience in technical dance training.
MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE INTENSIVE
LEVEL: ADVANCED

Tuition: $350
Led by professionals in the Atlanta area, this week-long intensive features a series of classes all geared toward a curriculum very similar to the structure of our year round Pre-Pro Company curriculum! Classes will include vocal and acting techniques, audition prep and strategy, Q&As with local professionals, ensemble building activities, musical theatre dance and more! Students will start the intensive with a full audition for placement, as they will be broken into groups based on musical theatre experience. The week will end with a mock audition in front of a panel of local professionals and directors for feedback.
